Three roles, three perspectives on PR — and yet one thing in common: great stories, solid processes, and trust as currency. Jonas juggles topics like an octopus, Michaela spots flaws in the system (Sherlock would be proud), and Malin digs like a truffle pig to uncover the stories that really matter.

Journalistic Foreman & Advisor for Compelling Stories at the Intersection of Media and Business
Short & sweet: Working with komoot across DACH, the US, and UK, with coverage including CNN. And a company profile in the FAZ about a debt collection company with “revolutionizes” in the headline.
Unfortunately (or fortunately), I can’t share anything major. One early mistake was picking up the phone too soon and pitching journalists a topic I wasn’t convinced by myself. The story has to be developed in such a coherent and relevant way that I would be interested in it myself as a journalist.
It needs the courage to tell new stories that go beyond the classic narratives. Transformations like AI affect all of us, and they call for open, transparent dialogue rather than supposed wisdom or closed-off truths. I see my role as making untold innovation ideas and approaches visible and highlighting the value they can bring to journalistic research. For that, a relationship built on trust between business, PR, and journalism is essential.
I’d be an octopus because I juggle a wide range of topics and clients at the same time. And with my three hearts, I try to put myself in the shoes of clients, colleagues, and journalists simultaneously.

Problem-Solver for All Things 😀 (Editor’s note: Very often the solution, too.)
Going from working student to Operations Manager, introducing Airtable, and I’m already looking forward to a milestone coming up in Q1 👀
Phew, I actually haven’t had any major fails (knock on wood) — just a few small ones. But to this day, I remember one phone pitch that went completely off the rails and had absolute “I still think about this at night and want to crawl into the ground” potential. We were still in the old office, and I was so nervous about calling the journalist that I was really anything but confident. But I learned a lot from it 😀
Trust at every level. People need to trust the media and reporting, journalists need to trust PR professionals, and we need to trust in the meaningful use of AI.
Not an animal, but a character: Sherlock Holmes. Because I’m very often on the hunt for flaws in the system or solutions to problems 😀

Storymaker, translator, and a calm presence in stormy media times.
Phew, I can’t think of one single big milestone, but I’m generally just really happy with my clients and everything we accomplish together. For example, there’s plancraft, who closed a fantastic funding round this year, which we managed to get covered by the FAZ and WiWo. Or met[ads], who we managed to get on TV twice within a single year. Or rightmart, with whom we’ve regularly created great data-driven stories.
Honestly, what I’m most proud of is how much trust my clients place in me — and the fact that together, we’ve been able to celebrate so many great successes.
Once, I offered a journalist that I could also send her a factsheet to help flesh out the topic, and she told me that this was her job and that she didn’t want to be influenced. I felt really uncomfortable afterwards, because the intention behind it was genuinely just to be helpful. Since then, I’ve been even more mindful of the fine line between providing helpful support and unintentionally steering the story.
Positive stories and optimism about the future. Everything is often painted in such a bleak light, even though there are so many great companies out there making the world a little better. Those are exactly the stories I want to tell and help make more visible. And who knows — maybe, in the end, those stories will inspire other people to find the courage to write their own. :)
I think I’d be a truffle pig… Always on the hunt for that special truffle — the exciting story just waiting to be dug up and brought into the world.
