Anyone checking out our LinkedIn comment sections will inevitably encounter the occasional troll. Entrepreneurs might manage to make it into the Buxtehuder Tageblatt on their own, they say, but never the Handelsblatt. And how silly—and, above all, unprofessional—it is that we would advocate for doing your own PR. And us, a PR agency!!!1eleven!
Well, first of all, thanks, Hans-Peter, for taking the time. Your hot takes (and those of your fellow commenters) regularly spice up our all-hands meetings and are a recurring highlight on Slack. We can laugh about it because we know that through our PR Academy, we’ve already shown more than 250 entrepreneurs how to get media coverage without an agency. And they’re not just making it into the BT (Buxtehuder Tageblatt; no offense)—they’re landing coverage in the big ones, too: Handelsblatt, Süddeutsche, Business Punk, and more.
We don’t just draw on our years of expertise; we also take the time to get to know the entrepreneurs we work with personally. Because, logically, PR isn’t one-size-fits-all—everyone needs something different.
That’s why our offering is divided into four modules:
In our masterclasses, we give entrepreneurs step-by-step guidance on how to get coverage in major media outlets. The videos can be accessed on any device and are available for life.
In our 1:1 sessions, we work with each Academy participant individually to identify the most effective ways to get their company media coverage. Feedback included!
In addition to our well-maintained contacts, we also provide all the in-house templates used by our PR experts—for example, for a press release.
We bring together journalists from Germany’s most renowned media outlets and pair them up with entrepreneurs for a 1:1 sparring session. This gives participants first-hand insights into what it takes to successfully pitch stories to editorial teams.
The success stories from our PR Academy show that the days when only PR agencies held the key to major media outlets are over. With the right strategies and tools, entrepreneurs can write their own success stories—because in the end, it’s not just the story behind a company that matters, but also how that story is told. And journalists prefer to hear it directly from the entrepreneurs themselves.
But hey, we understand if some PR agencies or freelance PR professionals feel threatened by our business model. We see our job as providing the greatest possible value for our clients—and the “best value for money” can look fundamentally different for an early-stage startup than for a fully funded scale-up.
